SF01 Logical file paths and names (client dependent)
SM66 Work processes of all instances
Due to the technology diversity, including in the SAP product portfolio, the support by a single silo unit SAP basis is almost impossible. Likewise, there are many activities that are located for historical reasons in the SAP basis and in parallel in the non-SAP area. In this respect, the separation between SAP and Non-SAP must be examined and, if possible, eliminated by standardisation, integration and centralisation. For example, the issue of output management can be set up in a team that has knowledge in the SAP printing area as well as in the non-SAP printing area and has contact points in the SAP basis. From the SAP basis, tools must be made available to the non-SAP areas to support them in their work in the SAP environment.

Of course, SAP administration is carried out by certified and experienced employees. This provides security for the SAP installations as well as for the sometimes quite complex update and upgrade projects.
Administrative tasks
Instead of data maintenance and application development, SAP Basis is more about providing and maintaining the software environment on which the data resides and is processed. Therefore, SAP Basis is an important core of any SAP infrastructure and is required in both predecessor versions such as R/3 and current versions such as S/4HANA 2021.

Understanding the structure and functioning of the system is especially important for IT administration. It is not for nothing that "SAP Basis Administrator" is a separate professional field. On the page www.sap-corner.de you will find useful information on this topic.

SAP offers a huge toolbox of different technologies to support business processes. The usefulness of their use is essentially determined by the task and its technical requirements. We have gained a lot of valuable experience in the following technologies, which we would like to make available to you.

Tools such as "Shortcut for SAP Systems" complement missing functions in the SAP basis area.

The chain now has in principle two end pieces (2 parallel blocks).

So much information... how can you keep it so that you can find it again when you need it? Scribble Papers is a "note box" that makes this very easy.

In this SAP Solution Manager training, we teach you how SAP Solution Manager works.
