SAP Basis Operation is responsible for ensuring the technical functionality of an SAP system. It includes all the technical components mentioned above. These are used to perform the following tasks:
Automatic error handling when a job is aborted is desirable and useful in most cases. The conscious processing and consideration of error situations in job chains - also at step level - can help to reduce manual effort. Error situations should be catchable: If they are non-critical elements, the following job can perhaps be started anyway. In the case of critical errors, a new attempt should be made or an alert issued so that an administrator can intervene manually. Simple batch jobs are usually not capable of this. The goal of an automated environment is not to have to react manually to every faulty job.

The SAP NetWeaver Application Server Add-on for Code Vulnerability Analysis tool, also known as Code Vulnearability Analyzer (CVA), is a tool that performs a static analysis of user-defined ABAP source code to detect possible security risks. The tool is available in the NetWeaver ABAP stack and is based on versions from: 7.0 NetWeaver: in EHP2 SP 14 or higher / 7.0 NetWeaver: in EHP3 SP 09 or higher / 7.3 NetWeaver: in EHP1 SP 09 or higher / 7.4 NetWeaver: in SP05 or higher To use the CVA tool, the execution of system-wide security controls must be enabled with the RSLIN_SEC_LICENSE_SETUP report. Afterwards, the security checks are available in standard ABAP code checking tools such as ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC) or Code Inspector (SCI). The option of these checks is usually referred to as "security analysis in extended program check". Note that the use of the security check feature for custom code separation is licensed and incurs additional costs. The older program that has been around for years is Virtual Forge's "Code Profiler". It is one of the first products in this segment of SAP security and was used by SAP itself for many years. It is very comprehensive and is also able to track individual variables across the entire control flow. This leads to very precise statements and a reduction of false positives.

Especially after security incidents it may be necessary to find out which (technical) users have logged in at which time. The USR02 table provides a first entry point. In the TRDAT column you can find the last login date for the user you want. However, a history of previous applications is not found in this table. In such cases, the Security Auditlog or SAL helps. Preparation In order to access the desired data, it must also have been saved previously. In the Security Auditlog, you can use various filters to determine which users are logged on which client and which information. The Security Auditlog stores, depending on configuration, logins, RFC calls, and other actions for specific users. You can make these settings in the SM19 transaction. Note: Logging user activity must be aware of the users concerned! Configure the SAL only for technical users or in consultation with users / works council / etc. It can be seen there among other things when the SAL was activated and last edited (1). You can also select the various filters (2), activate the filters individually (3), specify clients and users (4) and specify which activities are logged (5). Static configuration in the SM19 Under the Dynamic Configuration you can also see if SAL is currently active for the system. Determine the status of the SAL Evaluation of the SAL If the Security Audit Log is active, switch to the SM20 evaluation of the Security Audit Log. Select the desired user and client and the appropriate time window. The option Dialogues login is sufficient for the login. Then, restart the AuditLog analysis.
