There is an RFC error. CANNOT_ADD_PATCH_TO_BUFFER: A support package could not be included in the transport buffer. For more information, see the log file in the /usr/sap/trans/log (UNIX) directory. CANNOT_MODIFY_BUFFER: An attempt was made to modify the transport buffer without success. TEST_IMPORT This step checks whether there are still objects in unshared tasks that are overwritten during the commit. The log of the test import shows the cause of the error. For more information, see Note 42379. IMPORT_OBJECT_LIST In this step, the object lists for the support packages in the queue are fed into the system.

The establishment of Software-Defined Data Centres or IaaS are the key to further flexibility and standardisation of SAP technology infrastructure. The concept of a Software-Defined Data Centre is to create an abstraction layer over the individual virtualised components, such as servers, networks or storage, that controls, controls, provisioning, and automates the entire infrastructure.

For the authorisation requirement of a user, the transactions with user assignment already awarded should be determined accordingly, in order to be able to exclude them when selecting a suitable role. How does this work? There are various ways to identify specific user-assigned transactions, with varying degrees of result. The following article presents two variants. The first section first describes how to use SUIM to address the problem and what problems are encountered. It then explains how the task can be solved by using the transaction SE16N. As in the previous blog post Identifying all transactions of multiple roles, the roles Test_Schmidt1 and Test_Schmidt2 are used for this. Two of the transactions MM01, MM02, MM03 and MM04 were assigned to these roles in different ways. In the Test_Schmidt1 role, the transactions MM01 and MM02 were entered in the Role menu. In the Test_Schmidt2 role, the transaction MM03 was maintained in the menu of the role, but the transaction MM04 was maintained only in the S_TCODE permission object of the role. Both roles have been assigned to the user SCHMIDT_TEST. Identification of certain transactions with user assignment using SUIM This option is useful if only one transaction is to be checked for its existing assignment to a particular user. The audit is carried out here by means of the transaction SUIM. For this purpose, the variant "Roles according to complex selection criteria" has to be executed in the SUIM. After activating the option "With valid assignment of", the corresponding user and the transaction to be checked will be entered here. It is also recommended to hide the display of the collection roles in the search results.

In the area of SAP Basic Administration there are many tasks that occur at long but irregular intervals, such as adjusting the system modifiability. As a result, the know-how is often lacking and it is quickly taken to the next search engine, where long and partially incomplete forum entries make finding the right approach even more difficult. For this reason, I will regularly record recurring tasks from the SAP basis Administration for you in simple tutorials. This blog post will start with the topic system modifiability and client control. If you want to jump directly to a step-by-step guide, just scroll down to the bottom, where I summarised everything once. System Modifiability - What Is It? The system modifiability allows you to set which objects of the repository and the client-independent customisation are modifiable or not. Repository objects can also be customised even further, with respect to the software component and the namespace. You can choose whether an object should be modifiable, restricted, or non-modifiable. In this context, restrictively modifiable means that repository objects can only be created as non-originals (small note: for packages the setting "restricted modifiable" and "modifiable" is identical in the function). Let us now turn to the direct approach to the changeover to system variability. Change system modifiability As a preparation, you should clarify how long the modifiability should take place in your system. I have learned from my clients that it is often desired to set the system to "changeable" for certain tasks from the specialist areas only temporarily. If you have organised this, call the transaction SE06 in the 000 client and click on the button "System Modification". If you do not have permissions for this transaction, you can try either the transaction SE03 —> System Modifiability or the transaction SE09 -> Jump -> Transport Organiser Tools -> System Modifiability (under "Administration"). The following screenshot shows the way across the SE03: Here you can change the desired namespaces and software components depending on your request.

"Shortcut for SAP Systems" makes many tasks in the area of the SAP basis much easier.

Even for companies that hand over operation of the SAP Basis to an external service provider, there are often tasks from the user and authorization management environment at this point.

A note box in which data of all kinds can be quickly filed and retrieved. This is what Scribble Papers promises. At first, the program looks very spartan. But once a small structure is in place, you realise the great flexibility of this little helper.

Automated testing only Automated testing offers many advantages, whether it is a higher software quality through more comprehensive test coverage or reusability of test cases.
