Authorizations in SAP systems: what admins should look out for
When the auth/authorisation_trace parameter is turned on, external services are written to the USOBHASH table and permission checks are logged in the USOB_AUTHVALTRC table. You can now use the contents of this table to apply the checked objects and values from the trace to the suggestion values in the transaction SU24. Because it is a dynamic profile parameter, it is reset when the application server is launched. Now open the transaction SU24 and you will find your own UIK component as an external service. Double-clicking on this service will tell you that no suggestion values have been maintained there. You can apply these suggested values from the USOB_AUTHVALTRC table. Here you should at least maintain the UIU_COMP authorization object so that this information is loaded into the PFCG role as soon as you include the external service in your role menu.

Here I had to look for a moment at which point for SAP key users and not only for the SAP Basis in the SAP system an authorization is callable and may like to take this as an opportunity to write here in the article a few basics on the "anatomy" of SAP authorizations. To access the SAP system, the first thing you need is an SAP user ID (User). The user maintenance transaction SU01 (or SU01D) can be used to assign roles (from which profiles are derived) in addition to the (initial) password and personal data.

However, the preferred and more comprehensive variant of a programmatic permission check is the use of the AUTHORITY_CHECK_TCODE function block. This function block not only responds to a missing permission when the programme starts, but can also specify that only the NO-CHECK check marks maintained in the transaction SE97 allow external calling from another transaction context. This is determined by the function block and not by the developer.

A note box in which data of all kinds can be quickly filed and retrieved. This is what Scribble Papers promises. At first, the program looks very spartan. But once a small structure is in place, you realise the great flexibility of this little helper.

Are you using SAP NetWeaver Business Client instead of SAP GUI? The arrangement of the applications on the screen is controlled by PFCG roles. The SAP NetWeaver Business Client (NWBC) is an alternative to SAP GUI for access to SAP applications. This allows you to centrally access applications that reside in different SAP systems and have different UI technologies. The NWBC enables you to call not only transactions, but also Web-Dynpro applications and external service applications. In this tip, we will show you how to use PFCG roles to control the design of the NWBC user interface.

If you get into the situation that authorizations are required that were not considered in the role concept, "Shortcut for SAP systems" allows you to assign the complete authorization for the respective authorization object.

Create a separate PFCG role for this folder.

You can also create a user whose ID consists only of alternate spaces.
