If an authorization system grows too much over the years and there is no structured approach, the result is uncontrolled growth. If companies wait too long with the cleanup, a complete rebuild of the authorization structure or a new concept may make sense. This must be clarified quickly in the event of a cleanup.
Behind this RFC connection is a Trusted-RFC connection in the ERP system of the system landscape with the naming convention *_RFC. We recommend that you keep the name of the RFC connection for each ERP system in the system landscape and only change the connection data in the RFC connections. You do not need to customise your PFCG roles for the development, test, and production environments. Note that when mixing the single reel with the reel collectors, you will need to maintain the RFC connection in the roll menu of the pulley!
Basic administration
In the SAP system, passwords are locked when the maximum number of allowed password login errors is reached. This counter is reset with a password each time you successfully log in. In addition, an initial password can be locked when its validity has expired. Both the validity of the initial password and the maximum value for password login errors are set using profile parameters. For details, see Tip 4, "Set password parameters and valid passwords characters". A password lock only prevents a user from logging in via his password, because the number of errors is only evaluated if the login is done by password. If a login is now made via other authentication methods (such as SSO), these are not affected by the password lock. This also applies to internal expiration procedures (such as background jobs) because you do not need to register a password. This prevents, for example, denial-of-service attacks, which first cause a password to be locked in order to block internal processes. Eine Ausnahme von dieser Regel gibt es allerdings: Auch wenn andere Authentifizierungsverfahren genutzt werden, prüft das System, ob der Benutzer dazu in der Lage ist, sich mit einem Passwort anzumelden. This solution is only available via a support package starting with SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP 731 and requires a kernel patch. For details on the relevant support packages, see SAP Note 1891583. In principle, user login to the application server can then be restricted by setting the new login/server_logon_restriction profile parameter.
For the assignment of existing roles, regular authorization workflows require a certain minimum of turnaround time, and not every approver is available at every go-live. With "Shortcut for SAP systems" you have options to assign urgently needed authorizations anyway and to additionally secure your go-live.
