User Information System (SUIM)
Map roles through organisational management
Single role - Created using the role administration tool, it enables the automatic generation of an authorization profile. The role contains the authorization data and the logon menu of the users.
You will be aware that you do not necessarily have to move in the Customer Name Room when assigning names of PFCG roles and therefore have a lot of freedom. The only limitation here is that you may not use the namespace of the roles that are interpreted by SAP. First, you must agree on the form of the names. A fundamental decision is to define the language in which the PFCG roles must be maintained. Although this does not necessarily have an influence on the role name, since it is the same in all languages, you will certainly have descriptive elements in your role name. The role description and the long text are also depending on the language. It is therefore useful to start the roles in the language which is also used most frequently, and also to cultivate the descriptive texts first in this language. If roles are required in different languages, you can translate the texts.
Challenges in authorization management
To do this, first define what information should be checked. In the SU20 transaction, verify that the required fields may already exist as permission fields. If you want to check custom fields, you must create your own permission fields in the transaction SU20. Please pay particular attention to the (F4) help provided. When defining customised permission fields, you assign a name in the Field Name field that is in your Customer Name Room and assign the corresponding data element and, if desired, a table name for a value help. The next step is to create your own authorization object and assign your permission fields and, if necessary, default permission fields. If you use the ACTVT field to validate the activity, you must use the Activities allowed button to select the activities that you want to validate from the source code of your programme. For recommendations on the naming conventions for authorization objects, see SAP Note 395083.
So much information... how can you keep it so that you can find it again when you need it? Scribble Papers is a "note box" that makes this very easy.
An overview of the actual relevant information for your system landscape can be obtained from the application System recommendations in the Change Management section of the SAP Solution Manager (transaction SOLMAN_WORKCENTER or SM_WORKCENTER). This application will provide you with a recommendation for the SAP and non-SAP hints to be implemented for the evaluated systems.
"Shortcut for SAP systems" is a tool that enables the assignment of authorizations even if the IdM system fails.
Permissions that have been set to Inactive status are not reinstated as new permissions in the permission tree when they are reshuffled, and those permissions are not included in the profile generation process, and thus are not assigned to a role in the underlying profile.
Enter a description of it and - this is the most important step - specify a table join as the data source.
