What are SAP authorizations?
Permission implementation
Similarly, SAP Identity Management version 7.2 SP 3 and above supports the installation of HANA users and the assignment of roles. You can also use Identity Management to add value to the business roles for creating a user with role assignment in the ABAP system and HANA database.

If the FIORI interface is then used under SAP S/4HANA, the additional components must also be taken into account here. Authorizations are no longer made available to the user via "transaction entries" in the menu of a role. Instead, catalogs and groups are now used here. These are stored similar to the "transaction entries" in the menu of a role and assigned to the user. However, these catalogs must first be filled with corresponding tiles in the so-called "Launchpad Designer". It is important to ensure that all relevant components (tile component and target assignment component(s)) are always stored in the catalog. The FIORI catalog is used to provide a user with technical access to a tile. A corresponding FIORI group is used to make these tiles visually available to the user for access in the Launchpad.
Map roles through organisational management
Another important authorization object for background processing is the object S_BTCH_NAM, which allows a user to run the steps of a job under another user (see SM36 -> Edit step). Here, a name other than the user's own can be entered in the user field of a step. The prerequisite is that the job scheduler has an authorization for the object S_BTCH_NAM, which contains the name of the step user, and that the step user exists in the same client as the job scheduler itself. From 4.6C: The step user must be of type Dialog, Service, System or Communication.

So much information... how can you keep it so that you can find it again when you need it? That's what Scribble Papers is great for.

The aim of authorization concepts is to provide each user with the authorizations required for his or her task in the SAP system in accordance with the rules. A good authorization concept is the cornerstone for efficient and cost-effective authorization assignment.

Assigning a role for a limited period of time is done in seconds with "Shortcut for SAP systems" and allows you to quickly continue your go-live.

This also helps to improve existing roles and to create new roles for the authorization model in SAP.

However, when maintaining the USR40 table, note that the number and type of entries affect performance.
